"The world is a village" is a very true insight. Through the internet and globalisation, people around the world have moved closer together than ever before. Nevertheless, it is difficult for individuals to have an overview of the whole world. In our Geography and Economics studies, we will attempt such an overview. The course is designed for 8 semesters, in the winter semester 2021/22 we will look at the world from above and deal with different areas, cultures of and different perspectives on our earth. This course will be held in English and German for MS- and HS-pupils.
This lecture is intended for all HS pupils who are interested in history and civic education.
History is a look back into the past and also a look forward into the future. It is important to make connections to the present and to understand why time is the way it is. At any time it is possible to get involved and make a difference. In the 4-year course (8 semesters), we will start in the winter semester 2021/22 with the topic "Systems of Domination". We will examine what it takes to rule, whether rule is needed at all and which systems of rule have appeared and disappeared in human history. We also look at systems of domination that currently exist in the world. At the end of the course, which is designed as a lecture with one or the other exercise, all participants will be aware of the conditions under which they live, under which they want to live and what they have to do to preserve or (re)establish them.
